Everything you need to know before hitting the slopes
When is ski season in Armenia?
The main season runs from mid-December through the end of March. Upper slopes at Tsaghkadzor and MyLer can stay rideable into April. MyLer has artificial snowmaking, so coverage is more consistent there. Peak conditions are January through February.
How much do lessons cost?
Private lessons range from 10,000 to 20,000 AMD per hour (~$25–50 USD) depending on the instructor's experience and certifications. Group rates are cheaper per person. Prices are set by individual instructors — there are no booking fees from SnowPro.
Do I need my own equipment?
No — both Tsaghkadzor and MyLer have full equipment rental on-site (skis, snowboards, boots, helmets, goggles). Rental prices range from 3,000 to 10,000 AMD depending on the resort and equipment type. Your instructor can help you get sized.
How do I get to the resorts from Yerevan?
Tsaghkadzor is about 50 minutes from Yerevan by car. MyLer is about 1 hour 15 minutes. The most common options are: taxi (8,000–15,000 AMD one way), rental car, or organized shuttle services that run during peak season. Many hotels in the resort areas offer transfers.
What skill levels do instructors teach?
Our instructors cover all levels — from complete beginners who've never seen snow, to advanced riders looking to perfect their carving or hit the park. Each instructor's profile lists which levels they teach. If you're unsure, message them and they'll recommend the right approach.
Can I book in advance?
Yes, and we recommend it — especially during peak season (January–February) and holidays. Contact your chosen instructor via WhatsApp or Telegram to confirm availability and schedule your session. Most instructors are flexible with timing.
Is snowboarding popular in Armenia?
It's growing fast. Skiing has a longer history (Soviet-era training), but snowboarding has become very popular in the last decade, especially at MyLer which was designed with boarders in mind. Several of our instructors specialize in snowboarding.
What should I bring?
Warm, waterproof layers (jacket and pants), gloves, sunglasses or goggles, and sunscreen (the mountain sun is strong). Everything else — skis, boots, helmet — can be rented on-site. Bring cash in AMD for smaller purchases, though cards are accepted at most resort facilities.
